BALET® is an auxiliary biological amendment for the treatment of maize, taking a completely new way, and having the beneficial side effect in better preservation of the corn silages. The product is quite complex, containing 7 different microorganisms, both lactic bacteria and yeasts.
The stability of silage after the application of BALET® is comparable to the results achieved when using chemical preservatives, which is quite exceptional among biological products. This unique property is due to special strains contained, which can block the growth of other bacteria as well as some fungi. This significantly increases the effectiveness of BALET® in comparison to other biological products.
The composition of the acids produced exactly matches the requirements of the ideal expectation, where lactic acid is the most important contributor, and acetic acid plays the lesser role (butyric acid is not produced at all). The acidity is also maintained within a suitable pH range, i.e. between 3,5 and 4,2.
All bacterial strains are the exclusive property of MONAS technology s.r.o. and are stored in the Collection of Microorganisms of Dairy Cultures. This product is formulated as a liquid and contains only live, immediately active microorganisms. So make sure you order early! BALET® is always produced fresh for the season.
Knowing how to supply the cattle with quality forages is essential for its successful breeding. Unfortunately, the most common method of preparing cattle feed in our conditions, ensiling, is prone to aerobic degradation, where harmful cultures of microorganisms develop in the fodder and unwanted chemical processes are triggered. As a remedy against this nuisance, we introduce a new biostimulant, BALET®.
The production of BALET® takes place in the fermentation tanks of Milcom a.s. in the Czech Republic. Like all MONAS technology products, BALET® is prepared in a professional environment using modern technologies that guarantee consistently high quality.

Time-collection experiment in an open silo
In association with the Research Institute of Livestock Production in Prague-Uhříněves, we investigated the effectiveness of BALET® during aerobic stabilization of corn silage. We were particularly interested in comparison with both a commonly used chemical preparation and a single-component biological preparation.
In accordance with standard procedure, we focused on the development of the internal temperature of the silage after its opening, where the point of no return for aerobic instability was defined as the moment when this temperature exceeded the ambient temperature by two degrees Celsius (Graph A). While both the control and the sample treated with the simple biological preparation were destabilized in the first days of the experiment (after 102 and 36 hours), BALET® and the chemical preparation ensured that the stability lasted until the very end of the observation period (i.e. 7 days or more).
This result is consistent with the fact that higher concentrations of lactic and acetic acids were detected in the samples treated with either the chemical standard or BALET®; these acids act as natural stabilisers/preservatives of silage (Graph B). Acetic acid remains stable at low levels.
